Nate at the fair

We spent Saturday afternoon at the county fair. See the post below for pictures of the girls...I had so many cute ones of Nate that he had to have his own post. Kids at this age are so stinking fun because everything is so exciting to them, and the fair was no exception. First we found a kids' farm exploration area, with 8 different stations set up. Kids could stuff their own scarecrow, practice their roping skills, milk a "cow", or ride a pedal tractor:
Another section was designed to look like a barnyard where the kids could try their hand at cleaning the animals pens. It had tons of hay to scoop up with rakes and these cute little animals that Nate kept trying to climb on.

His favorite was playing in this area. It was like a big sandbox, but with dried corn. You can't beat a big Tonka truck.

We were able to find Brenna's first grade teacher, who works with 4H kids raising sheep. She took one of the sheep out of his pen for us and talked to the kids about him. The kids loved petting him, even though he'd been sheared just that morning, so he was less sheep-like than he would have been the day before. Nate, of course, had absolutely no fear, and was fascinated by all the animals we saw: sheep, cows, goats, and pigs. This is Mrs. Brewer's granddaughter talking to Nate about Skittles, the sheep.

And here is Nate at Splash Dogs (see post below for an explanation of what Splash Dogs is). He cheered his little heart out for each dog, yelling "Go puppy!" and "Yay puppy!" over and over. He was very intense:
Other fair highlights included winning stuffed animals at the midway, chocolate dipped cheesecake, caramel apples, and miniature pig races. YEEEHAW!
